Leading Houston Forward

YES Prep's Strategic Investment Plan.

YES Prep, an award-winning Texas Charter School Network, has impacted thousands of lives over the last 20 years. Today, YES Prep serves more than 14,000 students across Houston in grades 6-12 and is nationally recognized as a leader in high school and college graduation rates for children from underserved communities. Its schools are consistently featured in U.S. News & World Report ‘Best School’ rankings.
YES Prep received the inaugural Broad Prize for best National Charter Management Organization.

Who We Are
What’s Next?

Elementary feeder schools in Houston performed well 20 years ago, but their quality has since declined. Nearly 50% of children who enter YES Prep in 6th grade score in the bottom quintile on a commonly used academic diagnostic test, the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP).

Over the last decade, research has proven the critical importance of high-quality, early childhood education in ensuring a child’s long-term success.

“Reading proficiency by third grade is the most important predictor of high school graduation. Yet every year, more than 80% of children from low-income communities miss this crucial milestone.”

YES Prep wants to change this and serve all kids without exception. So, in August 2020 YES Prep will open its first elementary schools.
